Book Review: Future Prometheus by J.M. Erickson

http://goo.gl/ZME7Su

Book Review
by Author Michael Alexander Beas

Future Prometheus
By J. M. Erickson

Enter a world of the past and future where the reader partakes on a science fiction thriller the keeps your eyes glued to your reading device until the ride is over.

Future Prometheus is a gripping story that deals with many important and fascinating dilemmas that has the reader question ethical / moral standpoints in a very nonchalant sort of way. One of the main points that I like about this book is that it keeps you constantly on edge, and when you really take a step back and enter Author J. M. Erickson’s imaginary world you find yourself thinking that perhaps the events that transpire in this novel really could happen in our not so distant future.

A small tidbit of what to expect when reading this fast paced novel are war, poverty, illness, cryogenic sleep, a top-secret government plot that hides the clues of a long lost past.

Truly this is a thrill ride you will not want to miss. If you like World War Z by Max Brooks (minus the Zombies) this is the book for you. If you like past and future Science Fiction novels and movies filled with twists and turns, then this is the book for you.

I read this book in a day and a half, mainly because I could not put it down.

In short I recommend this book to all readers who have a vivid imagination of what the future can hold not only for us, but also for our children and our children’s children.  I encourage all of you to embark on this 160-year journey into the heart of Antarctica. If your courageous enough, this is where you will find the key to the future of mankind.

On a scale of 0 – 5 with 5 being the best, this would rate up as a strong 4 pushing a 5.

The first few chapters started off to be a little confusing as to what was going on and who was who. Then out of nowhere the novel takes off the moment the writer transitions the plot into the future starting with the bitter cold of Antarctica where a violent storm will literally take your breath away. Definitely a classic that will stand the test of time and one that I will enjoy reading again and again.

ForeWord Reviews - Clarion Book Review by Shelley Mae Hazen

"Beas has crafted an epic fantasy with storybook-quality adventure."

"Devotees to the high-fantasy genre will be delighted by the imaginary world conjured by Michael Alexander Beas in Strump: A World of Shadows, which explores the well-trod good- versus-evil theme in a unique and sweeping fashion...."

"The story Beas tells is epic in scale, following several parties of males and females—human and not—who swear allegiance to one king or another as they face tests of valor and loyalty across the geographically expansive setting of the Blue Kingdom...."

"Strump—the first in a promised trilogy—delivers storybook-quality adventure and heroics in the face of evil forces. Those who enjoy multiple-POV novels, fantastical worlds, and storied mythologies will enjoy Beas’s introduction to his trilogy...."

Arthur Thompson: The Glasgow Curse - Featured Book

Arthur Thompson, the Godfather of Glasgow Crime.

Definitely a compelling story that tells the truth about Glasgow. The record is set straight and paints the picture for all to see that it is never to late to change for the better.

This chilling and disturbing memoir tells the story of one of Glasgow’s most notorious criminals.Writing in his own words, William Lobban tells how he was born in Exeter Prison to a violent, schizophrenic mother. His upbringing in the East End of Glasgow was just as bleak, and he ended up in care at an early age, destined for a life of violence and criminality. Aged only 15 he masterminded a daring break-in to a Glasgow pub, and many years of armed robberies, dealing narcotics and gang fights followed. When he wasn’t causing mayhem on the city streets, Lobban was serving terms in various high security prisons, where he was involved in some of the most serious prison riots and hostage taking of recent years. In the course of his criminal career Lobban teamed up with the infamous Paul Ferris, someone he believed was a trusted associate, someone who would later incriminate him as the murderer of fellow gangster Arthur Thompson Jr. Police also believed that Lobban was the man behind the brutal double killing of Bobby Glover And Joe ‘Bananas’ Hanlon, but none of these charges was made to stick. Finally released from prison in 1998, Lobban decided to walk away from a life of crime, but personal tragedy led to a dependence on alcohol and drugs which nearly killed him. Only In recent years has he found a measure of peace and stability, and now lives quietly in the Scottish Highlands. He has decided finally to set the record straight, and in this searing expose of the Glasgow underworld he reveals the true facts behind those crimes which he really committed, and those of which he is falsely accused.Released from prison 14 years ago, he has turned his back on crime ever since. He now lives quietly in the Highlands of Scotland.

"Everyone regrouped and tried to flush out the vile memory of their heroic friend Romulus who died moments ago fighting off the three-headed panther. No one spoke as no words could make up for the devastating shock of losing a close friend. There were a few nods, and they pressed forward knowing they had no alternative but to continue searching for the Hidden Book of Mazes." - Beas

Yoga - Finding Peace and Harmony

Whatever you do in life it is important to find peace and harmony.

Not until recently was I exposed to the art of Yoga. My 18 year old daughter is a soon to be Yoga teacher here in local Charlotte area and somehow talked me into trying Yoga the other day. Granted, I was not able to do the Tripod Headstand that she so effortlessly demonstrates in the picture below. Some of the simple techniques she has taught me clear my head from life’s everyday worries.

These simple steps help me better concentrate on my writing and helps me live a more calmer life filled with peace and harmony.

If you have not tried Yoga, or would simply like to know more, then I encourage you to visit the Yoga Journal blog link listed below. Who knows maybe in a few weeks it will be me in the picture.

"The Garden Within" by Richard Maddock / Get Inspired!

Tonight’s blog is about music and the beauty of music in our everyday life.

When writing, I am always in search of inspirational songs that can help set the stage for the next chapter. If successful the words seem to fly off the pages.

With that said, tonight I would like to introduce everyone to a good friend Mr. Richard Maddock.

Richard is a remarkable pianist who has spent the bulk of his life teaching and composing inspirational music. I have attached his latest song "The Garden Within," for all of your listening pleasure. I have also included Richard’s biography so that you can get to know him and his passion for making music.

His song, together with the beauty of the falling snow will definitely set tonight apart from the rest, which is good thing considering I have a lot in store for the second book of STRUMP: Corners of the World coming this Summer to a bookstore near you!

STRUMP: A World of Shadows by Michael Alexander Beas

Ritz Herald · British Tabloid NewspaperRitz Herald · British Tabloid Newspaper
In the recent years there has been a strong public clamor for stories that take place in a medieval concept.

Series like Game of Thrones continue to capture the imagination of millions of viewers all around the world.

This is largely due to the fact that castles, sword fighting, valor, honor and strength will never grow old-fashioned.

A World of Shadows written by Michael Alexander Beas promises to provide excitement, a world of enchantment and wonder; it promises to recapture the imagination of readers and has proven to provide numerous tales that are sure to get the audience asking for more.

It was inspired by an enchanted game called Strump, this was a concept that was patterned upon ancient Game Pieces, the Shadow Lord, which was a major character in the story aims to reunite the Game Board of Strump with the sole purpose of reuniting the anachronism of the shadows once again.

If the reader is looking for a story that dwells around good and evil, then this is the book to explore. It is filled with struggle, action and is clad in the armor of deceit, but also still focuses on the quest for glory.

Characters like Prince Gorgan and Prince Alexander adds much needed spice to the story as they fight each other for the keys of the throne of Blue Kingdom.

The reader who is in search for mystical powers would appreciate how the writer explores the possibility of the magical board game called Strump.

Story highlights:

The book is reminiscent of plots from stories like Harry Potter; the search for truth is a central focus on the story.

However, the book focuses more on familiar mystical characters like pirates, sorcerers, pixies and mice instead of creating new fantasy characters.

This book has the inner workings of J.R.R Tolkien’s “The Hobbit”, and “Lord of the Rings”, this book will not fail readers who are accustomed to fantasy fiction characters that are diminutive of the humanoid race.

The book is also including the search for a rightful king; certain incidences in the story will leave the reader guessing who should be the best ruler of the area.

There is no easy way to discern who will be the rightful ruler since the characters are thrown into various alliances and broken loyalty over the series of chapters.

Who should read this book?

This book would be a definite hit for young adults and elders alike, it is complete with innocent yearnings of man, but is also complete with a much darker plot that older readers seem to crave.

The author studied various plot stories and strived to create a map of legendary fantasy books, this was inspired by the masters of creating a new magical world that people would be excited to join in. The author was keen on introducing historical details in the book to make it more interesting on every page.

It is a most promising book that could also build its own set of fan fiction followers. It has included all of the needed formula to make it work.
